American Idol: Top Nine Results!

American Idol on FOX is back April 7 for the live results of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performances by the top nine finalists. Did you vote last night? Keep reading to see if your favorite made it through another week!

American Idol on FOX kicked off the top nine live results show with a Rock and Roll medley performance by the top nine. Then we saw the Ford music video followed by a clip of the contestants being visited by Russell Brand prior to their performances last night. Then it was time for some results. Casey Abrams, Stefano Langone and Lauren Alaina were the first three up to face their fate and after Ryan revealed that Kelly Clarkson tweeted about her crush on Casey in which Casey declined to comment on, they then reviewed their performances from last night. Lauren was the first one sent to safety, followed by Casey. Stefano, however was the first one of the evening sent to the bottom three.

Next up was a performance of “Unchained Melody” done by season four alumni finalist and Tony Award nominee Constantine Maroulis. Then we got a look at how Gwen Stefani got involved in the finalists’ wardrobes last night and then it was time for another round of results. Paul McDonald, Scotty McCreery and Pia Toscano were up next for more results and after reviewing their performances and Scotty was the first contestant sent to safety. With Paul and Pia left standing, Paul was the next one sent to safety while Pia was surprisingly sent to the bottom three.
After a commercial break, American Idol was back and we got to watch as the finalists got a media lesson from TMZ which was quite comical and then it was time for more results. James Durbin,  Haley Reinhart and Jacob Lusk were the final three called up to the stage for the results and James was the first finalist sent to the top eight. With Haley and Jacob left standing and in another shocker, Haley was sent to safety while Jacob was sent to the bottom three. So that meant the bottom three tonight were Jacob Lusk, Stefano Langone and Pia Toscano.
As time wound down on American Idol’s live results show, we next saw a performance of “Wild One” by Iggy Pop which was borderline scary for me to be honest, but hey he is a Hall of Famer, right? Then it was time to find out which one of our finalists would be saying goodbye tonight. With Jacob, Pia and Stefano standing together, the lights dimmed and Ryan announced that Jacob was safe, leaving Stefano and Pia awaiting their fate. And in the most shocking elimination of the season so far, Stefano was sent to safety as Pia Toscano would be heading home – wonder if the judges wish they had their save now. Best of luck to Pia Toscano, I am sure this is not the last we will hear of her!
