About LGA 1155 Socket Processors

LGA 1155

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

LGA 1155
Type LGA
Contacts 1155
Processors Sandy Bridge

LGA 1155, also known as Socket H2, is an Intel microprocessor compatible socket which supports Intel Sandy Bridge microprocessor. LGA is short for Land Grid Array.

LGA 1155 is designed as a replacement for the LGA 1156 (also known as socket H). LGA 1155 has 1155 protruding pins to make contact with the pads on the processor. Processors of LGA 1155 and LGA 1156 sockets are not compatible with each other since they have different socket notches.

Chipsets

Information about the P67, H67, H61[1], B65[2] and Z68 chipsets are shown below.[3] Intel chose not to support USB3 natively in any of these chipsets.

The socket LGA 1155 looks almost exactly like the LGA 1156, even though with one pin less. As you may know, this new socket is incompatible with the older Intel processors with socket LGA 1156 /
